The story

Mesh Mould is the world's first technology to combine formwork and reinforcement within a digital fabrication process.

Its foundations were built between 2012 and 2014 with the introduction of a novel, spatial 3D printing process to fabricate polymer meshes.

Between 2015 and 2018, a visionary team within the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) Digital Fabrication, consisting of like-minded specialists in architecture, robotics, materials science, and structural engineering, has advanced the technology further by making the first real-world building application, the DFAB HOUSE in Zurich.

In 2016, Mesh Mould received the Swiss Technology Award, the most significant national recognition for innovation and technology transfer.

Between 2019 and 2021, and with the support of our industry partners SIKA AG and PERI SE, we developed the technology into a complete industrial application ready for large-scale production.

The MESH AG, a spin-off company of ETH Zurich, was founded in 2022.
